Carson City Knowledge & Discovery Center One element of the proposed Carson City Center, the Knowledge and Discovery Center (KDC) will provide space and programs to accommodate technology and media literacy skills, communications skills, cross-disciplinary thinking skills, health literacy skills, financial and business skills, as part of self-directed lifelong learning. It will provide specific space for teenagers as well as adults to participate in out-of-school programs that enhance formal education and better prepare them for the workforce. In addition, a 180 seat auditorium is included as well as children’s program, story-telling and exploration spaces. The architecture incorporates imagery from the railroad and lumber mill history of Carson City. The overall project will also include a public plaza with interactive fountains, ice skating and fire pits, as well as a 390 space parking garage. Project Summary (KDC Only) |
